Attorney Lori Beth Leavitt joined Denner Pellegrino, LLP, Counselors At Law in 2006, and is admitted to practice in Connecticut and the District of Columbia. She brings to the practice of law legal research skills from her experience as a Senior Judicial Law Clerk for 12 court justices in central and western Massachusetts including Berkshire County, Franklin County, Hampshire County, Hampden County and Worcester County. Her extensive research background includes not only complex legal research but also writing memoranda of law, findings, orders, and judicial decisions. In addition, she coordinated internship programs and various other court proceedings. Ms. Leavitt served as a law clerk for private law offices, as an intern attorney for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services and the Anti-Discrimination Law Clinic of Springfield, and as a legal intern for the Judge Advocate Generals Corps (JAGC) for the United States Department of Defense in Fort Belvoir, Virginia and the Rhode Island State Internship Program, Public Defenders Office.
As an Visiting Professor at The Elms College and Bay Path College, Attorney Leavitt has taught Legal Studies I & II, advanced Legal Research and Writing and Juvenile Law. She has also served as a guest lecturer at the Western New England College School of Law and other colleges. She is devoted to legal research as a mainstay to her practice of law and quotes Thomas Jefferson, A lawyer without books would be like a workman without tools.
Attorney Leavitt received a JD from Western New England College School of Law with honors for Academic Merit Scholarship and a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in employment law. At the law school she was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, the student bar association as a 3L elected representative, the Criminal Law Society, the Women's Law Association, and served as a Peer Mentor. She received a BA in English and History from the University of Rhode Island magna cum laude. She is secretary of the new lawyers association of the Hampden County Bar Association and is a board member of Hawthorn Services, Inc.
